Jessica Esmeralda Ibanez, a 20 year resident of the South Bay, passed away at home in Harbor City July 10, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, July 18, 1981 to Rosa Pineda and Ismael Hercules, Jessica was a graduate of Redondo Union High School and a student at El Camino College. Jessica was very passionate about her work as a marketing coordinator at Prudential Realty. She loved facing the daily challenges, the people, and the ability to make a difference by working closely with the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Despite loving and being incredibly savvy with computers and electronics, she was very fond of the simple things in life. She enjoyed being outdoors. In particular, Lake Cachuma and the numerous camping and fishing trips she went on. Mostly, she loved being a mother and spending time with friends and family. Jessica is survived by her husband Carlos, her daughter Cindy, her sister Betty, her mother Rosa, her father Ismael Hercules, the Ibanez family, the Ferrari family, her loving co-workers, and numerous friends. The memorial service will begin at 2:30pm on Friday, July 15th at Rice Mortuary followed by a cemetery service at 4:45pm at Green Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunshine Kids Foundation.

  2. Our lives are forever changed for the better because you were born. You were an angel on Earth, and I find comfort that you will now be an angel in Heaven. I love you and I miss you. Until we meet again, may you rest in peace.

  3. Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle Autumn’s rain. When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. ~anonymous~
