Jennie (Jimenez) De Leon, age 95, longtime resident of Gardena passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8th, 2018. She was born in Guanajuato, Mexico on May 6, 1923. At the age of 3 months, she arrived by train into the Unites States with her mother, Bernarda Jimenez, to join her father, Pedro Jimenez, who was already established in Compton, California. She became the eldest of six children and would later meet the love of her life, Roque “Rocky” Levano De Leon. They would marry in 1946, having a wonderful marriage of 45 years and raising two children, a son and daughter. Jennie was a wonderful mother and full time homemaker. Lovingly filling her role as the matriarch of the family. She had the love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. In her pastime she enjoyed activities that included bingo, casinos, antiquing, shopping, knitting and gardening. She is survived by Ruben De Leon; son and his wife, Sandie; Virginia De Leon; daughter, 4 grandchildren, Denise Cardenas and husband, Gustavo; David Castanon; Nicole and Marissa De Leon; 5 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kristin Moore; Corey Cardenas; Julian Pasillas; Noah Castanon; 3 siblings, Rosie Molina; Sal and Johnny Jimenez.
