Osbern, Jeanne Doreen, a 4-year resident of Torrance, CA and long-time resident of New Orleans, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Torrance. Born in Aldershot, England, Jeanne was 78 when she died. Jeanne was the Resident Manager of the 3915 St. Charles Avenue Apartments complex in New Orleans for over 10 years. She was a survivor of the blitz, and in 1944 ventured from Swindon, England to NYC, from where she traveled to Ohio and later Kansas City. On March 26, 1955 she married Ronald Osbern, an American soldier who she had met while still in England and to whom she remained married for 20 years. She was an accomplished oil and water-color artist who sometimes sold her works in New Orleans' French Quarter. A lifelong lover of animals, she worked as a veterinary assistant for over ten years and routinely fed myriad birds, cats, strays and animals of every kind. She had been listed in New Orleans' Who's Who, where she was cited among realtors for her charm and British accent in a world of southern drawls. She is survived by her son Craig Osbern of New York City, daughter-in-law Suzette Seepersad, daughters Roni Osbern and Kristen Parker of Torrance California, and grandchildren Abrielle Parker, Kimberly Osbern and Caelyn Osbern. She was preceded in her death by her parents Essie and Samuel Morgan of England. The Memorial Service will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, CA, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at noon, followed by a reception in the Lighthouse Room. Her ashes will be spread in her homeland of England and at sea by family.
