James T. Stephens January 6, 1929 – January 7, 2006 James was born in Piedmont, Alabama on January 6, 1929. A resident of southern California for over 46 years. He is preceded in death by his son Tom, grandson Jesse and granddaughter Sara. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 57 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Shelia Derochea, son Jack and his wife Cathy, and his daughter Susan Gardner. Six grandchildren, Jason and Jonathan Stephens, Jaime and Jackie Derochea and Jennifer and Jolene Gardener. Five great-grandchildren, Christopher Stephens, Christine Delapina, Valerie Derochea, Alyssa Waite, and Christian Castillo, and brother-in-law, Ralph Brannon. Sherry Aigner and Rochelle Conafax also held a special place in his heart. He was a member of the Cypress Baptist Church and had been a deacon for over 45 years. He had a tremendous love for gospel music, teaching Sunday School, children and life itself. He leaves behind many family and friends and he will be truly missed.

  1. There were so many wonderful memories shared with Jim and Barbara from her years working at Northrop. Even though they retired and moved out of the area, I tried to keep in touch. I will always remember the renewal of their vows on their 40th anniversary. There was so much love and joy expressed that evening and the reception was filled with th sounds of laughter. Jim’s love will live on and may the memories bring you comfort, joy, and peace.
