Shelton, James Maxwell a 78 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in Torrance. Born in Akron, OH in 1921 James was 85 when he died. James was a Captain in the United States Air Force during World War II and served as a pilot. He was a member of St Margaret's Church in Southgate. James worked as a high school shop teacher then went on to work for over 30 years at North American/Rockwell until his retirement. James was a Dixieland jazz trombonist and played all over southern Ca. He is survived by Daughters, Julie Mueller of Alta Loma, CA, Mary Godinez of Woodland Hills, CA , Joan Shelton of Kuna, ID and Nancy Jones of Quartz Hill, CA. Numerous Grand and Great grandchildren. Preceded in death by Wife, Betty Shelton, Mother, Vernie Shelton and Father, William Shelton, Brother William Shelton, and Sisters Margaret Essman and Mary Lee. A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Monday, March 12, 2007 from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. A private inurnment will be held at Los Angeles Veterans Cemetery in Los Angeles.
