James Keiji Otoide, born in Honolulu, HI, a 51 year resident of Culver City, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the age of 85. In the late 1940's, he was a member of Club Nisei Orchestra using a borrowed bass fiddle. Jimmy spent his military commitment in the United States Marines during the Korean War. After his discharge, he attended the University of Houston receiving his Bachelor of Engineering. During this time, he met and married Mariel (Magee), his wife of 57 years. After college, he worked for 33 years at Hughes Aircraft Company. His survivors include his wife; a son, Bill (Sylvianne) Otoide of Manhattan Beach; a daughter, Eleanor (Robert) Kaneshiro of Honolulu; a daughter, Tamie (Charles) Peck of Torrance; a brother, Koichi Otoide of San Gabriel; a sister, Tsugie Asaeda of Honolulu; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family request no flowers or Koden. If you wish to make a memorial donation, please consider a caring adult day care agency, OPICA, 11759 Missouri, Los Angeles, CA . Burial at Riverside National Cemetery on June 23, 2014 will be private.
