Jack R. Bohn, 87, of Rancho Palos Verdes passed away on September 19, 2017. Jack was born June 13, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After moving extensively with his family as a child, the Bohns settled in Wesley, Iowa where he met his future bride Marjorie. Jack attended Iowa State University where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in Nuclear Engineering. While working on his NE degree Jack worked at the Ames Lab. Upon finishing his degree, he and Margie packed up and headed to California to begin a new adventure which would last for 30 years with Jack working at TRW in Manhattan Beach, CA. Jack was one of the original rocket scientists and also had specialties in materials technology and oil recovery systems. Along the way he accumulated eight patents. Jack was somewhat of a pioneer beginning with the early days of beach volleyball, he moved into mountain climbing, backpacking, sailing, scuba diving and camping. HE loved sailing and racing his Columbia Challenger sailboat and was a member of King Harbor Yacht Club. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie (Bleich); children Daniel (Shirley), Mark (Casey), Barbara (Robert Jones), Michael (Andrea) and Paul. Grandchildren; Elodie Jones Carnahan, Will Jones; Jack, Michael and Lilly Bohn. Viewing/Vigil: Tuesday, October 3rd from 5 to 7 p.m., Lighthouse Memorial & Reception, White & Day Center, Redondo Beach.Funeral Mass: Thursday, October 5th, 11:00 a.m. St. John Fisher Church, Rancho Palos Verdes.
