Bench, Jack D. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2007, at the age of 86. He was born in St. Anthony, Idaho and 4resided the past 42 years in Torrance. Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly, and three daughters: Justin Bergon, Cathy Langley and Kimm Rees; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Zeda Rife and Rose Eldridge, and brother, Earl; several nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to him. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII and 2 years as a missionary for the L.D.S. Church in the Northwestern States. He excelled in the field of sales and never met a stranger. He served 25 years on the So. Bay Community Concert board until his recent illness. Viewing will be Friday night, March 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Rice Mortuary. Refreshments will be served. Memorial services will be held Sat. at 11:30 a.m. at Rice Mortuary with interment to follow at Green Hills Cemet

  1. My sympathy to the family. I worked for Sears at the So. Bay Credit Central with Jack for many years. He was a happy, kind, bright man.

  2. My condolensces to Bev and family. What a great guy Jack was. And so much fun. He always had a joke to tell and enjoyed telling them so much. He was nice to everyone and ever so friendly.
