October 24, 1944 ~ August 15, 2015
The world lost one of the sweetest, most gentle souls with the passing of Iris Vaughn Hunter-Brooks, affectionately known to all as Vonnie. Vonnie entered Heaven's gates on August 15, 2015.
Vonnie was born on October 24, 1944 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, to Vaughn Hunter Jr. and Iris Dean Ross. Her spirit is carried on by what she always deemed her two finest accomplishments, her son Anthony (wife Nadine) and daughter Dawn; her brothers Stephen Hunter and Gregory Stephenson; her eight grandchildren, Tim, India, Asia, Bradine, Justiss, Biancae, Addison and her honorary grandson Ma'kie, who were a constant source of pride and joy; her sister-in-law Marcella; her god daughter Shamicka along with her many nieces and nephews.
Vonnie had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; celebrating achievements of her loved ones, spending time with those close to her heart, and solving all the world's problems in her unique and loving style.
Vonnie never met a stranger. She radiated compassion, warmth and integrity with everyone she came into contact with and continuously added so much value to her friendships, and received so much love in return.
Vonnie joins her welcome home party in Heaven and is reunited with her parents, her brother Lawrence "Chucky" Hunter and countless friends who were more like family to her.
