In the early morning hours of June 11, 2008 Heriberto Maldonado Contreras rested. Heriberto devoted his life to providing his family with love and generosity that in today's world seems superhuman. His final days were a testament to the man he was, as he was surrounded by those closest to him, which were many. The home was filled with the unity that he embodied and the strength he showed everyday. Heriberto was born February 28th, 1931 in Placentia, California to Antonio and Aureliana Contreras. He was one of eight children, which include Jose, Eliazar, Salvador, Arturo, Lucila, Lilia, and Lupe. Heriberto spent his life as a model of dedication and hard work, as he spent 35 years as a mold maker for Mattel Toys Co. However, his true success can be measured in his 55 year marriage to his beautiful wife Maria Socorro and the family he is survived by. His amazing legacy will live on through the children he and Maria Socorro have raised and their families that continue to grow. His children include John and his wife Aurora, Silvia, Eduardo and his wife Teresa and Alejandro. Heriberto also enjoyed the love of his grandchildren Sammy, Lupe, Mireya, Bobby, Tricia, Michael, Nicole, and Malissa. His great grandchildren who always made him smile include Isabella, Christopher, Benjamin, and Eric. He will be missed by all! Rosary Services will be held at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach on Friday, June 13th at 7:30pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 10am at St. Lawrence Martyr Church followed immediately by Burial Services at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

  2. I am deeply sorry for your dad and my uncle whom I loved dearly and not to mention he was a strong and caring, generous and loving person. And another strong woman, was my aunt Socorro, but she had a lot of faith in God and I loved the BB-Q’s your mom and dad made. They were wonderful. Playing poker was fun and the top of the evening. I know your dad will be with his other family up above and having a great time, because there is no pain in heaven. As a matter in fact he will be younger, perhaps 30 yrs. Well I am glad to know that your mom will have a lot of support and love from all of you. You all are very loving, even though we were a little a naughty at times. I will always love my uncle and aunt we had good times. May the Lord be with you at all times during this time. I know when I lost my father, there were a lot changes going on. We had our ups and downs but I always respected and loved him. I would love to attend the services but I have to work. Love always, Maria Theresa Guadalupe ContrerasXXXXOOOXXXOOO.
