July 14, 1923 ~ October 7, 2004
Helen G. Rhoads, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away
on October 7, 2004. She was 81. Helen was a 60 year resident of Redondo Beach,
Born Helen Grace Croft in Lancaster, PA. She was the only daughter of George
Jacob Croft and Ada Pauline Williams Croft. She was valedictorian of her high school
graduation class. She met and married her husband Carl and followed him to California
upon his military assignments during WW II. Together they bought a home in Redondo
Beach where she spent the rest of her life devoted to her husband and family.
She enjoyed listening to classical music and was a fan of the ''Three Tenors'', Jose
Carrara being her favorite. She and Carl traveled all over the world, more than 7 times to
Spain.
Helen's memory will live on in the hearts of her husband, Carl Rhoads, their
daughter Ann L. McKay and son-in law Fred of Aliso Viejo, CA. her granddaughter
Michelle Ann Sullivan and two great granddaughters, Daphne and Gretta Sullivan of
Orange, CA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 15, 2004, 11:00AM at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance. A reception will follow services at the mortuary. Interment will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood.
To Ann and Family, I am sorry to hear about your mother. I always enjoyed going to your house – your mom was a nice person and a good mother. I remember going to the Lakewood Mall with your parents – I thought it was such an adventure. I know you will miss her but I know you will have fond memories. With sympathy, Cathy
