Pastor Harry W. McFarlin - Man of God, Friend to All December 1, 1935 - August 2, 2014 Harry Willard McFarlin Harry W. McFarlin, 78, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, California after a four year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna of Redondo Beach and four children: Karen Corson, of Bend, Oregon, Andy McFarlin of Stanton, California, Susy Munson of Lake Oswego, Oregon and Patrick McFarlin of Chandler, Arizona, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Born in Bell, California in 1935 to Willard and Myrtle McFarlin, he was the eldest of two children and is survived by his sister June Van Wig of Thousand Oaks, California. He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1954 and then El Camino College and Western Baptist Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Harry worked as an electrical engineer for the city of Redondo Beach. At 39, he attended Western Seminary to become a minister. His first church was in Salem, Oregon and then Burbank, California until he returned back to the South Bay and retired from a ministry with Journey of Faith in Manhattan Beach. The study of God's Word was central in his life and that was revealed by the way he lived. He was a stellar example of God's unconditional love. Harry's Bible was his right hand and God's words were his encouragement and strength. Psalm 94: 18-19 "When I said "my foot is slipping" your love, OH LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul." Funeral Services for Harry McFarlin will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 8, 2014 at Journey of Faith Church, 1243 Artesia Blvd., Manhattan Beach, California 90266. Cards and flowers can be sent to Journey of Faith Church and donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
