BIRKENSTOCK, HARRY J. went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, June 1, 2004 in Redondo Beach. He was born July 3, 1926 in Michigan and has been a California resident since 1942. He retired from Mobil Oil in 1984 and was in the petroleum industry for 37 years. He was a U.S. Naval veteran. Survivors include his devoted Niece, Deborah (Raub) Henderson of Lawndale, CA. and her family, Roger, Rebekah and Rachel, and his brother, Terry McKown and his family, Patti, Michael and Larry. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Arlene Birkenstock, Nora Birkenstock, Betty Raub, and Geraldene York. Among those who also mourn his passing and celebrate his homecoming are his nieces and nephews: Diane Hunt and family, Susan Birkenstock, Carrie Machernis and family, Martin Birkenstock, Chris Tarr and family, Steve Tarr and family, Mike Tarr, Samantha and Kevin McKown and many loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday , June 7, 2004 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at WHITE & DAY COLONIAL MORTUARY, 901 W. Torrance Blvd. (at Prospect Ave.) Redondo Beach, CA 90277(310) 379-2446. The Service will be at the same White & Day location on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at 1:30 P. M. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
