Gregoria
Franco (Bactat, Gregoria C. a 55 year resident of Manhattan Beach/Buena Park, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2005 in Torrance. She was born in Batac, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on May 22, 1912 to parents Lazaro and Manuela Cabanatan. As a young woman in the Pilippines she graduated from the University of the Philippine in 1940. In the Philippines she taught as a Home Economics Teacher for the Department of Education. She met and eventually married Manuel M. Bactat who was a P.F.C. in the United States Army in 1945. In 1950 the Bactat family, Manuel Sr., Gregoria, Manuel Jr. and Hector (Roy) moved to the United States of America. Gregoria attended UCLA in 1955 to study Family Finance, Advanced Food Preparation and Child Care-Guidance. She went on to attended El Camino College in 1956 where she studied Cosmetology and was certified by the California State Board of Cosmetology in 1957. In 1960 opended ''Linda's Beauty Salon'' in Manhattan Beach. Her hobbies included, photography (studied at Cypress College), writting (studied at Cerritos College), knitting, crochet, needle work. She is survived by her sons Manuel C. Bactat of Canyon Lakes and Hector C. (Roy) Bactat of Manhattan Beach; along with grandchildren Jesse, Justin, Jeremy Bactat (children of Roy) and Matthew, Kim, and Erin Bactat (children of Manuel), Season (daughter of Linda (deceased). Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 20th at 10:00 AM at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
