Gordon L. Browne October 6, 1950 - January 24, 2013 Long time resident of Redondo Beach and Torrance, CA. Son of Colin L. Browne and Sally D. (Cook) Browne of Charlotte, NC. Survived by brother Geoff and family of Woodstock and Chicago, IL as well as guardian and good friend Gail Hagle of Torrance, CA. Gordon was a true original, living life his way, on his terms. He earned two degrees from Duke University in only 2 1/2 years. He was an expert in early computer languages, was heavily influenced by the arts and music, a philosopher with a generous spirit and acerbic wit. Outdoorsman, environmentalist, rock climber, photographer, and adventurer; hiking alone he once travelled east from Lima, Peru through Bolivia and Brazil to the Atlantic, then back to the Pacific coast by way of Venezuela, Columbia, Central America and Mexico over the course of nine weeks. He also spent memorable time in Bryce Canyon, Utah and his spirit is probably visiting there now. Gordon was a perennial college student, had avid interest in politics and the ongoing relationships between countries as their leaderships evolved. He was aware of their histories and could appreciate their challenges and progress. Community mattered to him and he valued worldly events as well as the well being of his local and immediate neighbors and friends. Gordon was a kind and gentle man who appreciated the good deeds and good will extended him by family, friends, neighbors and most recently the medicinal and health care communities. He was always happy to meet a friendly cat. He fought the good fight and will truly be missed. His ashes will be dispersed in a private ceremony.
