Gomez, Gloria On Sunday morning, February 6, 2005, one of Redondo Beach's elegant ladies bid us one and all a farewell. In 1933, on January 20th, she blessed the lives of her parents, Antonio and Zenayda Saucedo with her birth. She is survived by husband Raymond (Hozie) Gomez, daughter Ana Maria (Johnny Jr.) Araujo, sisters and brother, Ophelia Pacheco, Emma Gomez, Lupe Contreras and Anthony Saucedo; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and a long list of god children. Gloria retired as accountant from the family business, Hozie's Radiator Service. Her social calendar was a full one. Beginning in 1946 as Queen of Redondo Beach's annual May Day Festival; past president of the Anchors Guild of Children's Hospital; long standing member of 40 plus years of which she chaired the annual celebrity golf fundraiser; past president of the 1st mates King Harbor Yacht Club, 25 plus year member; twenty-five plus year's member of Elks lodge. A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday, February 14 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. in Torrance. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 15 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 415 Vincent Street in Redondo Beach. Burial will follow with procession to Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
