Gloria
Monahan, Gloria Esther Age 79. Gloria passed away on May 15, 2011 in Torrance, California following a long and courageous battle with complications from a stroke. Born in Los Angeles to Herbert and Madolin Wilson, she was a 40 year resident of South Bay, California. Gloria is now reunited with her loving husband of 35 years, Charles Kenneth Monahan, her loving sister, Jewel, and her best friend of 50 years, Mary G. Morin. Gloria is survived by her stepdaughter: Kathy Shanks of San Jose, California and Shelia Monahan of Torrance, California, four grandchildren: Laurie (Dave) Breton, Rob (Melissa) Clarque, Darren (Julie) and Matthew Monahan and six great-grandchildren: Michael and Dylan Clarque, Riley and Jeremy Breton and Noah and Nathan Monahan. She was a loving godmother to Nancy E. Morin, a great godchild to Jenessa Morin-Teal, and a longtime friend of 50 years to Capt. Ronald D. Morin (USNRet), all residing in Auburns, California. She was a lover and admirer of Great Danes and over the years bred and rescued several dogs taking them into her heart. Gloria was a strong, independent and loving woman, and even in sickness God gave Gloria Victory. She was many things to many people and was loved and will be sorely missed. "I love you, Glola!" Services will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, California on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 at 2 PM. Any donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the SPCA or any animal charity of your choice.

  1. Dearest Sheila; Our heart is with you as we share in Gloria’s passing. We know that she is so proud and grateful to you for your love and the caring attention. We know what a difficult time this is for you, and you know we are here for you whatever you may need. I consider it a privilege to have been asked to assist you in creating her notification, and I am sending it to you along with a cherished photo of Gloria. I will be coming down prior to her services, so we may share memories and celebrate her life and how she lived it to the fullest. As we hold Gloria dear in our hearts forever, we will hold you there too as you truly were a Godsend. All my Love, Nancy Morin
