Gerald Tom Mateo Ong, a 35 year resident of Torrance, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Born in Torrance, CA, Gerald was 35 when he died. Gerald was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church. He was baptized there and attended their grade school. He later attended Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, CA. After graduating he went to El Camino community college before attending a trade school to become a Pharmacy Technician. He then went on to work in the industry for a short time. His interest in music, food, movies, video games and comic books were just a few of his passions in life. He loved his family and friends and often enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by brother, Geoffrey Ong of Torrance, CA. He was preceded in death by parents, Concepcion and Dr. Gilberto Ong. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Wednesday April 3, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Rosary Vigil service beginning at 7:00 pm. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church on Thursday April 4, 2013 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
