Evans, Gerald Duane, "Jerry", a 52 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Torrance. Born in Mayville, ND, Jerry was 78 when he died. He had served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Jerry was a member of the South Bay Camera Club. Of his 40 year career in education, Jerry spent 18 years as Principal of Margate Intermediate School in Palos Verdes Estates, and 7 years as Photography Teacher at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudette Evans of Torrance, CA; daughter, Susan (Mark) Tillotson of Ramona, CA; daughter, Sherrie Evans of Torrance, CA; and sister, MaryLou (Doyle) Lindsey of GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewellyn Evans and Myrtle VanDerWege. The Memorial Service will be held at the Rice Mortuary Chapel in Torrance on Saturday January 29, 2011 at 2pm. A Reception will follow in the Lighthouse Room until 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson's research.
