George
George passed away peacefully at his home in Rossmoor on Sunday, March 15, 2009. George was born in Los Angeles to Mary and George Abramovic on June 13, 1937. He lived and had many fond memories of growing up in the South Bay. George married early and had two children. Christine and George. Christine is 48 years old and lives in Boise, Idaho with her two children, George's grandchildren, Cidney and Noah. George is 46 years old and works in the construction industry in Tehachapi. His sister Mary Ann lives in Gig Harbor, Washington, nearby George's special niece Carole and her three children, Mary Rose, John and Victoria. George treasured his close relationship with Carole and she remained a very important part of his life. George married the love his life, Felice, on June 22, 1985. George and Felice lived in Redondo Beach and Torrance before moving to Rossmoor in 2000. George sold real estate most of his career before retiring. Retiring, however, never slowed him down, he kept busy with friends and family. George lived his life to the fullest and always enjoyed a great cigar or sipping scotch or bourbon with close friends. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2004, he still had the spirit to go on a rafting trip with his friends down the Colorado River. The "River Rats" loved George so much, they named one of the rapids in his honor. George truly enjoyed each and every moment of his life ~ he never looked backward and never took things for granted. He always took the time to exchange a kind greeting with a neighbor or friend. He was very proud of the fact that he learned to Slalom water-ski and ice skate during his mature years. He loved animals especially horses and his favorite cat Tara brought sunshine to his life every day. George was a kind soul and will be missed by the many who he touched along the way. Please help us keep George in our prayers and memories. 1. Dear Felice and Mary Ann, I was so very saddened to hear of your loss. While I do not believe we have ever met Felice, George and I go back a long way. We were each others best men in our first weddings. We were very close for many years, then lost track. Mary Ann, I am so very sorry to hear of your brothers passing. I do have some photographs from about 45 years ago. If you would like copies, please let me know. While some memories are dim, I will always remember George as a great guy……………Joe

  3. Dear Felice and family, I was very saddened to see in today’s paper George’s passing. I met him while doing cat adoptions in Seal Beach, and at one time he did adopt, and fall in love with, one of my kittens. George was a very gentle, caring, sincere soul with a wonderful gift of humor. I can’t imagine how many other people’s lives he touched, beyond me, a perfect stranger. I’ve thought and prayed for him over the few years since he adopted “Penny”. I’m so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful human being and gift he was to all, and he and your family will be in my prayers. Vanessa Massie, A.M.R.T.net Rescue

  7. Oh Felice! I’m so sorry to hear about George. I had actually been thinking about you guys very recently and wondering how I could get in touch with you. George was one of the most content, joyful people I have ever known. I feel lucky that he touched my life. He always put a smile on my face. All my love to you in this most difficult of times, Sarah

  8. Felice – I was blessed to meet George on the boys “River Trip” and saw him a few times afterwards including my last time at Dan’s birthday party. The last thing we spoke about was planning the another river trip (so George). Despite a very brief relationship, I always felt I knew George as one would know a person of many years. He was, and still is, one of the great gifts placed on this earth who would touch so many during his life. His kindness, humor, determination, and lust for life’s adventures were infectious and inspiring. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through your days ahead.
