Gene Thorton Yeomans passed away at the age of 79. A long time resident of Monterey Park, Gene spent his last 4 years living in Torrance, CA near his family, friends, and loving dog Wally. His death came after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gene was born in Ossining, New York, on the 14th day of June 1929. Gene moved to California early in his life to pursue a career in construction, later gaining the skills to specialize in the setting of tile and terrazzo. Gene was a crucial part of the creation of the first stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also the construction of the original flooring of the Del Amo Mall. Gene Yeomans married Maria Luisa Potain, and together they raised Paul Yeomans. In retirement, Gene and his dog Wally enjoyed traveling the United States and visiting family and seeing the country. He spent time living with his brother Joseph in Arizona before moving to Torrance. He was an active member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, and Elks Club. Vigil Services will begin at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Pacific Crest Cemetery Chapel, located at 2701 182nd St. , Redondo Beach , CA. With nicheside services to follow.
