Gaylord "Bud" Cotton Irwin, a 62 resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Torrance, California. Born in Rockford Illinois, Bud died of esophagus cancer; he was 65 years old. He was a member of the Vietnam Veteran Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and National Rifle Association.
Bud attended Redondo Union High School in the 60's, El Camino College and California State University at Long Beach. When he left RUHS, he joined the US Army and had several assignments before completing two tours of duty in Vietnam War.
Bud never married and in later years enjoyed working as a security guard at his Alma Mater, Redondo Union High School. He found his calling looking after the students. He was a member of the Redondo Beach Public Safety Commission.
He loved helping the kids, political debates, supporting Republican conservative causes and a staunch supporter or the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and particularly the Second Amendment.
Bud enjoyed all RUHS sports and activities, El Camino football and basketball teams, the CSULB Forty-Niners' football team and Dirt-Bags Baseball Team. He also was a lifelong fan of professional wrestling.
Bud is survived by his brother George, sister-in- law Melba, niece and nephew Amber and Ashton and first cousin Richard Handson of Denver Colorado.
