Mitchell, Gail Angus, a 62 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009 in Torrance. Born in Oakland, California, Gail was 67 when he died. Gail was a member of Studebaker Road Church of Christ in Long Beach. Gail is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Della Mitchell of Torrance, CA; his mother, Charlotte Mitchell of La Habra Heights, CA; son, Fred Mitchell of Torrance, CA; daughter, Melinda (Tom) Cole of Torrance, CA; son, Ed (Jenifer) Mitchell of Conway, AR; sister, Patricia Anders of Citrus Heights, CA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Angus John Mitchell. Gail was an amazing man with many interests, including archery, blacksmithing, gunsmithing, learning the art of Bonzai, fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his wife and family. Gail was a mentor and role model to so many. He will be greatly missed by all. The Service will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Saturday August 29, 2009 at 10am. Burial will follow at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach. Please join family and friends in the Rice Mortuary Lighthouse Room for a Reception in Gail's honor until 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
