DuVall, Fukuko Saito, a 2 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008 in Torrance. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Fukuko was 83 when she died. Fukuko came to America in 1961 after being whisked off her feet by a young dashing Air Force First Lieutenant, Jerry DuVall. Fukuko lived an exciting life in many places across the United States, including Mississippi, New Hampshire, Maine, Indiana, Hawaii, Oklahoma and many places in California. She loved America and was proud to become an American citizen in September of 1974. Fukuko had many hobbies including painting, sewing, and crafts, but her passion was in the kitchen, she loved to cook. She cooked many dishes from across the planet, perpetually experimenting and was an accomplished chef. Fukuko was a devout fan of the NFL and was a strong supporter of the San Francisco 49ers. During football season, her Sundays and Monday nights were governed by which games were being televised. Fukuko will be missed at the local parks where she walked every morning and for her time in the house exercising in front of the TV. Of the many things that she will be remembered for, she will always be remembered for her encouraging positive nature and warm heart that would motive those around her to be better people. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry DuVall of Torrance, CA; son, Mark (and his wife Grace) DuVall of Torrance, CA; and 4 grandchildren. The Service will be held at Green Hills Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes on Thursday November 20, 2008 at 1pm. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
