Fredric
Fredric Michael Durvay, a life-long resident of Torrance, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 on Santa Catalina Island off the Los Angeles coast. Born in California on April 12, 1951, Fredric was 58 when he died. Fredric was a member of St. Andrews Church in Redondo Beach, CA. Rick, as he was known by his friends and family, was skilled in technical, mechanical and computer engineering and spent his life offering his professional services to many worthy causes and charities. He spent much of his life working at two different Catalina organizations; Campus By the Sea Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Guided Discoveries/Catalina Island Marine Institute(CIMI) at Toyon Bay. Two of Rick's passions in life were nature and speed, and he took pleasure in doing them together as often as possible. He enjoyed dirt bike riding in the desert, Mountain Bike racing, and boating out on the open water as much has he enjoyed racing his BMW. He loved animals and helping other people and dedicated his life to the service of his community, his church, and other causes dear to his heart. He will be greatly missed. Rick is survived by brother, Ryan Bell of Hutchinson Kansas, sister Risha Denney of Torrance, CA and sister Lorrie Tanquary of Granby, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother Odessa Bell. The Service will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Ashes to be scattered off of Rick's beloved Catalina Island. Please consider a donation to one of his favorite charities instead of sending flowers.
