Frank Schetter, husband and father, went to be with his heavenly father March 10, 2009. Formerly of Massapequa, New York, Frank and his beloved wife, Lilian, moved to Torrance, California in 2006.
Frank was born January 30, 1914 to Frank John and Margarette Schetter in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Jamaica, New York with one brother Joseph who preceded him in death. He graduated from Jamaica High School in 1932. During his youth, he played the drums in a swing band, studied for various trades, and served as sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. In the service, he was stationed in England where he met his bride-to-be, Lilian. They were married in 1945 and returned to the States to start a family. They moved from Jamaica, New York to Massapequa, New York and it is there that he raised his family and lived until 2006. Frank worked as a lithographer for the Long Island Press until his retirement. He has enjoyed golf and travel in his retirement years.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lilian, his sons, Robert, of Tehachapi, California, and Douglas, of Redondo Beach, California, daughters-in-law Jennifer and Carla, grandchildren Chelsea, Jacob, and Ian, step-grandchildren Alex, Zachary, Nicholas, and Christian, three nieces and a nephew.
There will a viewing on March 13, 2009 at the White and Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach, California from 4 to 8 PM. A family graveside service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach, California at 11 AM.
