Francis Christopher Ring 26 February 1953 - 9 July 2010 Long time South Bay resident, Francis Christopher Ring ("Fran") passed away peacefully on Friday, 9 July 2010, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Fran is survived by his soul mate and devoted, loving wife, Roxanna, his sons Declan Christian, Adrian Rory, Mitchell Christopher, daughter Ellen Marie, brothers Patrick and wife Helen, Jim and wife Liz, Gerrard and wife Marie, Mark and wife Joan, sister Rita, in-laws Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Clements, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces here and in England, Scotland and Ireland and his black Irish brother, John Crishon. Fran was born in Dublin, Ireland, of Irish aristocratic and rebel stock. He moved with his family to Derby, England, when he was six years old. After completing a Catholic school education, he entered college and completed his apprenticeship in masonry and plumbing. He immigrated to the South Bay in August 1986 where he started his own contracting business. Married to Roxanna in August 1989, they purchased their Redondo Beach home where Fran immediately started his ongoing remodeling project. Although quiet at first, once you got to know him, he could talk your arm off and regale you with interesting stories of his life and experiences. A lover of football, he was an avid fan of English Premier League Soccer and would often rise at 4:30 in the morning to watch a match. He enjoyed sports (billiards, golf, fishing, shooting and kayaking), English comedies, hot Indian curry, beer and strawberry margaritas, and the companionship of his family and friends. Known for his honesty and integrity in business, many of his customers became his friends. Services will be held Wednesday, 14 July at 2:00 pm at Rice Chapel 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance 310-792-7599. Irish wake to follow at the Ring residence.
