Evans, Frances Shanks, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008 in Harbor City, California. Frances was a 85 year resident of Southern California, and a 50 year resident of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. She was born in Topanga Canyon, CA. Frances was 85 when she died. She was a member of the Rolling Hills United Methodist Church. Frances is known for her generous service to others, giving both with her time and talents. Career notes: Public Administration career spanning 40 years. Worked for Los Angeles County, in private practice consulting, and at the Cal State University system at Long Beach Chancellor's Office. Personal interests: Gardening and native plants, travel, nature conservancy. Hobbies: Enjoyed model boat racing in the 1950's, Snow skiing from 1950 to 1980, Civic activities: Elected to Westfield Park and Recreation Board and served for 15 years, docent at the Cabrillo Marine aquarium leading whale watch trips and museum tours for children and visitors over a period of 10 years. Passions: Sailing, summers in the Sierra Nevada, spending time with friends. Fan of: UCLA, her alma mater. She is survived by her loving Husband, Kenneth Evans of Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA, and Daughter, Mary Evans; Daughter, Ann Evans, and grandchildren Paul Wong, and Madeleine Wong. She is preceded in death by parents, Lester and Marguerite Shanks. The Service will be held at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Brial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.

  1. Ken, My heart and prayers are with you. We so appreciated Frances and all the wonderful work that she did for the “Blaisdell Family National Association.” I admired her vitality and smile whenever we met. She will be sadly missed by all of her BLAISDELL cousins. Her obituary will be carried in the Dec-2009 issue of the “Blaisdell Papers.”
