Evangeline Mavros November 7, 1925 - May 20, 2017 Born in Chicago on November 7, 1925 to parents John Mackris and Katherine (Bontzolakis) Mackris, Evangeline passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Evangeline married Alexander Mavros on July 4, 1943. They celebrated 71 years of marriage before Alexander passed at the age of 98 in 2014. Evangeline was predeceased by her brother Mike Mackris, sister Irene Moreno and her eldest son Michael Mavros on March 18, 2017 in Las Vegas. A longtime resident of Torrance California, Evangeline is survived by her son John Mavros and his wife Melanie, and her daughter Mary Abrams and her husband Bernie Abrams and Mike Mavros' widow Debbie. Evangeline was blessed with eight loving grandchildren, Angela Nicole Mavros, Elaine Michelle Bucy, Alex Charles Mavros, Alex Michael Mavros, John Alexander Mavros, Rachel Katherine Abrams, Michelle Katherine Mavros and David Michael Abrams. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren, Skyler Mavros, Alexandria Bucy, Brianna Bucy, Jaiden Mavros and Dylan Mavros. Evangeline was an incredibly kind, loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were always first and foremost in her mind. Her love for her family was immeasurable. On Thursday May 25 at 4:30 pm, the guest viewing will be followed at 5pm by the Trisagion Church Services at St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, Community Center 722 Knob Hill Ave, Redondo Beach CA. A reception will follow in the Fotion Fellowship Hall. On Friday May 26 at 2pm, Funeral Services will be at Green Hills Cemetery Chapel, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes followed by the internment and burial. Dinner/Makaria will follow at St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church 722 Knob Hill Ave Redondo Beach in the Fotion Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, Redondo Beach CA.
