Eugene W. Cowherd, a long time resident and businessman of the South Bay, passed away at his home on Friday, February 18, 2005. Born in Columbus, Missouri, Eugene died at the age of 77. A World War II veteran of the Navy, avid pilot and traveler, Eugene lived life with great enthusiasm and is remembered for giving his love for life to the people around him. He died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Cathi Spear of Santa Cruz; son Jim Cowherd of Torrance; sister, Edrie Killingbeck of Anaheim; and four grandchildren, Jessi and Brian Spear; Stephanie and Kimberly Cowherd. A gathering of family and friends will be on February 21 at 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Redondo Beach on February 22 at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood on February 23 at 11:30 AM.
