Captain Eugene O. Bell, USMC Retired, a 62 year resident of Orange County, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2009 in Costa Mesa. Born in Boonville, Indiana, Eugene was 80 when he died. Eugene had served in the Marines during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and 3 tours in the Vietnam War. A career military man for 32 years, he was one of the original Marines going into China. Eugene was a member of 2nd Marine Division and the 36th Marine Air Group. He completed a degree in Construction Enginering and a Law Degree while in the military. When he retired in 1970 he started his own company in home repair called "Man around the House". Eugene loved to fish, gardening, his dogs, and loved to cook for his family. He is survived by his children, Katherine (Ted) Cernak of Costa Mesa, CA; Michael Bell of San Clemente, CA; Colleen (Steve) Nusinow of Redondo Beach, CA; Patrick (Karen) Bell of Louisville, KY; brother William (Doris) Bell of Evansville, IN; sister Sandra Sanders of Evansville, IN; and 4 grandchildren, Scott, Sean, Caitlin and Colin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Bell; their son Stephen Bell; his parents, Catherine and Luther Bell; and his brother, Gary Bell. Burial Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Foundation.
