Needham, 'Gene' Eugene, 40 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 in Torrance. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 7, 1919. He had served in the Navy during World War II. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Violet of Torrance; daughter, Dorothy Usry of Dublin, CA; sons, Ben Needham of Oregon City, OR and Gerry Needham of Brentwood, CA; brother, Vernon Needham of Raytown, MO. Also left to mourn his passing are 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grand daughter. He was preceded in death by daughter, Darlene Sgobbo. Visitation will be Friday, January 28th from 10:30AM to 12:30PM at the Rice Mortuary in Torrance followed by a procession to Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach where graveside services will begin at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

I first met Huey when I was about 13 in 1963. The Conley family had just moved to Redondo Beach. Huey and his sons were into Corvettes in those days. I will always remember Huey with a smile on his face and a love for cars.
