Delavan, Ethel Lou a 60-year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in Florence, AZ. Born in Syracuse, New York, Ethel was 85 when she died. Ethel was an active leader in the Boy Scouts of America. She received the Silver Beaver Award in 1983 and the Award of Merit in 1975. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary for 28 years. She was an active member of St. Cross Episcopal Church. There she served as a Sunday School Teacher; Assistant Sunday School Superintendent; member of the choir; and Robe Mother for the Acolytes. Ethel was named St. Cross Mother of the year in 1957. She was instrumental in establishing ''1736 House'', a crisis-counseling center for members of the community. She is survived by her husband, Charles Delavan of Redondo Beach, CA, sons, John Delavan of Florence, AZ, and William Delavan of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Grandchildren, Chuck Delavan, Michelle Bentley, Wendy Stidd, Michael Delavan, Stephen Delavan, Great Grandson, Cameron Stidd; Sister, Ruth Davis, Brothers, Jim Parry, Larry Parry, Stephen Parry and Ernie Parry. Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2002, 2:00 PM at St. Cross Episcopal Church, Hermosa Beach.
