Scherner, Ethel Gladys, a 63 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Lomita. Born in Bath Pennsylvania, Ethel was 92 when she died.
Ethel was an avid reader and enjoyed and crocheting and hand stitching wonderful pieces for family and friends. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Laughlin NV to play the poker slots.
Her family wrote: "She set a standard for our family to follow. With her ability to keep up her Spirit no matter what her physical condition became. Her determination and willingness to overcome what life sent her way will continue to live in our hearts. She was very loved and will not be forgotten."
She is survived by her Daughter, Dolly Woskoski of Torrance, CA; Grandson, Steven (Karin) Woskoski of Fresno, CA; and Granddaughter, Victoria Woskoski of Atlanta, GA and Son, John (Suzzette) Clothier of Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, C. and Ethel Hahn; and Beloved Husband Merlin Scherner.
Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Diabetes Foundation. Rice Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
