Harkink, Emma Lee, a wonderful, caring and loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother passed away on July 26, 2004 after battling liver cancer during the past few months. Emma is survived by her husband, William E. Harkink, her sons & daughters-in-law (Larry R. & Judith of Worland, WY and Harold ''Eddie'' & Diane of Chandler, AZ), two granddaughters (DeAnna of Flagstaff, AZ and Jaci of Bloomington, IN). She is also survived by a sister (Mary Justus) and brother (Paul Dix). Emma was born February 26, 1927 in Greenwood, AR to George and Reth Dix. The family moved to Burbank, CA where she attended school and later married William on May 12, 1945. The young couple moved to Gardena in 1951 where they raised their two boys and remain in the same house today. Emma loved and was loved by all her neighbors, friends and most of all her family. She derived great joy from the closeness she had with all those around her, and she especially loved her Church and the Lord. Viewing will be Thursday, July 29, 2004 at McMillan & McCormick Mortuary from 4-8PM at 1016 W.164th Street in Gardena. Services will be held at her beloved Crossroad Church, 2818 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Gardena, at 9AM on Friday, July 30, 2004 with burial immediately following at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA during a 12:45PM service. Family and friends are invited to their home for an open house between 4-6PM on Friday to celebrate the life of Emma Lee. Emma will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
