Cannon, Ellan L., a South Bay resident passed away April 3, 2001. Born May 14, 1920 in San Francisco, California, she was 80. Employed as an Executive Secretary by the City of Downey for 20 years, Ellan was President of the Retired Public Employees Association, she was also very active as a member of the League of Women Voters, the National Secretaries Association, the Downey Rose Float Association, but wanted mostly to be remembered for her public service. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kermit; son Roger (Sherri) Cannon of San Pedro; daughter Susan (John) Brennan of Long Beach and many friends who loved her dearly.A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday April 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Peter's by the Sea Presbyterian Church in Palos Verdes. The family requests that en lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Ellan to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer research. Cremation services will be private.
