Elizabeth "Betty" Hogan, long-time Torrance resident and founding member of St. Lawrence Martyr Parish, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30th 2006 after a long illness. One of six children, she was born in Gilbert, Minnesota to William Hogan and Margaret (Cuddihey) Hogan. She is survived by her sister, Gertrude Wirth, as well as many nieces, great nieces and great nephews. Her long career as a registered nurse took her literally around the world, from the Philippines during World War II as an Army nurse to the American Hospital in Paris, Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles and ultimately to North American Aviation/Rockwell as an industrial nurse. Elizabeth's many interests included painting, gardening, entertaining and traveling. Most of all, she dedicated her life to service and family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a memorial mass at the St. Lawrence Martyr convent chapel on Friday, July 7th at 10:30 a.m.
