Elizabeth Daisy Wratschko died peacefully at her home in Carson, California on August 5, 2021, at the age of 93. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Elizabeth was the daughter of Herbert Percy and Annie (née Sloan) Swailes. Elizabeth had three sisters and three brothers; all predeceased her. Sisters, Mary Frances Kofoed (1920-1982), Kathleen Beatrice Kruger (1921-2019), and Patricia E. Swailes (1924-1926) and brothers, James Kenneth Swailes (1923-1988), Herbert S. Swailes (1925), and John E. Swailes (1932-2015).
Elizabeth was employed at Western Union’s headquarters in Manhattan when the company sent her to Southern California for a special assignment. On that trip she met Robert Louis Wratschko, who she married in 1952. The couple was blessed with 7 children and 55 years of marriage. The family initially settled in Hawthorne, CA but soon moved to Martin Street in nearby Carson. Elizabeth was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church.
Her husband, Robert, died in February 2008. Her son, Thomas, died in April 2003. She is survived by her son, Mike (Nina) Wratschko of Palos Verdes Estates, CA; daughter, Patricia Fortin of Torrance, CA; son, Bill (Laura) Wratschko of Rolling Hills Estates, CA; son, Carl (MaryEllen) Wratschko of Bellflower, CA; daughter, Diane (Rick) Tomsco of Long Beach, CA; son, John Wratschko of Carson, CA; 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Her real joy in life was family and friends.
