Elizabeth Savoie-Macera December 2, 1956 – January 10, 2005 Born in Coventry, Connecticut, on December 2, 1956, Elizabeth, a Manhattan Beach resident, passed away on January 10th, 2005 from recurring cancer. In her lifetime she had many jobs, and always volunteered for Meadows Elementary & MBMS. Liz Macera was truly a wonderful person. She always thought about others before herself. At the age of 33, she met her husband Marc Macera and at the age of 34, she gave birth to her first and only daughter, Jessica. Life was normal for about 11 years after that. However, in early 2002, she found a lump under her arm and tested positive for breast cancer. Liz got the lump removed and endured a round of chemotherapy and radiation. After that, she was fine until this past New Years Eve. She became very ill, with an annoying pain on her right side, and was rushed to the emergency room. The pain turned out to be cancer that had spread from her breast to her liver and lungs. After a week in the hospital, another round of chemotherapy was planned and she was allowed to go home until then. Unfortunately, when her husband came to pick her up, she had taken a turn for the worse and slipped into a coma. After a long day, with many friends and family members at her side, she passed to a better place at 6 o’clock that evening. She was my best friend and I will always love her. -Jessica Macera Elizabeth is Survived by husband Marc Macera, daughter Jessica Macera, parents Judith & George Savoie, and siblings Karen, Pam, Diane & Butch.
