Edwin L. Brewer, 88, died Monday, August 18, 2003. A Memorial Mass and celebration of his life will be held Friday, August 22, 1:00 p.m. at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, 1900 S. Prospect Avenue, Redondo Beach.
Ed was born April 9, 1915 in Indianapolis, IN and moved to Southern California in the late 1930's where he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern California. He was employed by the Bank of America for over 40 years and worked at several different branches in the Los Angeles area until his retirement as a Vice-President in 1978. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus for many years while living in St. John the Evangelist Parish. The family moved to Redondo Beach in 1970 where they became members of the St. Lawrence Martyr Parish. His primary hobby was a passionate interest in collecting and listening to New Orleans jazz music. He also enjoyed gardening and grew beautiful roses in his yard for many years. He was a quiet man of impeccable character, strength, integrity; a wonderful role model for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Anne; daughters Patricia, Anne, Cecelia, and Mary Jane; sons Ed and Dan; sons-in-law Bob Muller and Greg Morley; daughters-in-law Carole Brewer and Uvonne Brewer; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother Charles F. Brewer and a number of nieces and nephews.
