Edward Carl Veen, a long time resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Torrance. Born in Santa Monica, CA, Edward was 90 when he died. Edward had served in the Army during World War II serving with the 226th Battalion "Battery A". Edward was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and an active volunteer in local civic groups. He was President of the Seniors Club of Redondo Beach and worked with Meals on Wheels and Beach Cities Health Club. A Chicago Cubs fan, Edward also enjoyed fishing, beach walking and traveling. Edward is survived by wife Leonora; son Glenn; daughter Cynthia; sister Pat; and several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Rice Mortuary on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
