On Sunday June 17, 2012, Edris Elaine Tarnoff, 68 years old, native of California and longtime resident of the South Bay, passed peacefully at Torrance Memorial surrounded by family. After a brief but difficult struggle with lung cancer, Edris went home to be with our Lord and daughter Trish. Edris was a loving wife and friend to Carl; a wonderful mother to Steve and Trish and son in law Art; an inspirational grandmother to Paris, Ashleigh and Adam; a devoted daughter to Carol and Clifford Merrill; a caring sister to Thomas Merrill; and a dear friend to Vicki Blackwell. Edris' positive energy and family has been the most important driving factor in her life. Her nurturing, kind and generous nature was evident to those around her in everything she did. She flourished around family and friends. She made an impact on the lives of those she knew here on earth, and will continue to do so as an angel watching over us in heaven. The family asks that if you had the privilege of knowing Edris, please close your eyes, and remember the experiences you shared with her. Smile, and let those memories keep her alive in your heart. "We will miss her always and forever, for her kindness, for her love, and for her generous laughter at even our worst jokes." The family has appreciated all of the overwhelming support during the past three months. Edris' journey may be at an end, but her spirit lives on in those she guided through life and touched with her warmth and grace. Edris would find comfort in knowing that in lieu of flowers, any expression of condolence be directed to Rice Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held at Rice Mortuary on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private.
