July 18, 1943 ~ January 23, 2009
Edgard Asensio died in his home in Huntington Park, California on the 23rd of January 2009 at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife Ramona and sons Edgard Augusto, Ivan Oscar, Omar Isaac, and daughter Flor de Maria.
Edgard was born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1943. He often said the most important and defining event of his life was meeting Ramona. His most celebrated day of the year was March 21st, the first day of Spring, also Ramona's birthday. Their journey together lasted close to 5 decades. Together they raised their children and along the way touched and influenced countless people.
Edgard attended San Francisco de Asis and Instituto Nacional before attaining his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Centro Americana (UCA) in April 1973. Also, he earned a Master's degree from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Nicaragua (UNAN) in March of 1982 and an MBA from INCAE Business School.
During his professional career of 40 years, he worked as a civil engineer, entrepreneur, business executive and college lecturer. Those who worked with him and under his tutelage admired his brilliance, patience and humility. He enjoyed gardening, classical music, reading books, and most of all, he was happiest at home with the company of family and friends.
Edgard was an adoring husband, devoted father and brother, loving uncle and loyal friend. We will re-tell his stories, forever laugh at the jokes he told and remember his warm smile that will continue to light up the lives of those closest to him.
The viewing will take place Friday, January 30th from 5-9pm at Rice Mortuary in Torrance, California. The mass will be held on Saturday the 31st at 9:30am at Nativity Catholic Church, immediately followed by a final reception at Rice Mortuary scheduled for 11am.
