Born of Grace, July 31, 1951 in the convergence of the Blue Earth and Minnesota Rivers; died September 11, 2012 in the State of Sunshine. Doug is remembered by his family; a beloved blend: marital bonds with blood relations, long-loyal friends and new generations, cherished employees he called his own, his angel Jeanne, brothers and sisters in faith, and all associations he has ever known. He loved us all, and thus all are welcome. Memorial Mass: Monday, September 17, 10:00am at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, Redondo Beach, reception to follow at Rice Mortuary, Torrance. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family. I worked for many years at Heritage Center with Mr. Nelson. He was a fine man, kind hearted and a good leader. His passing will give a big hole in the lives he has touched.

  2. Doug gave so many gifts to his family’s life. We share in the comfort of knowing he is no longer suffering. Douglas will always be remembered in our minds and in our hearts.

  3. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug! I have not seen him in many years. I am his cousin, and remember him with fond memories as a child. I remember going to Minnesota to visit Grandma Nelson in Mankato, and going to Litchfield to see all the family. He will truly be missed! Robert Peter Nelson Sr.

  4. Jeanne and family we are so saddened by the news of Doug’s passing. Thank you for letting me know yesterday. Although we drifted apart over the years and miles, we did maintain contact and I am confident we both enjoyed that. Doug was my first close friend that I made when I arrived from Boston in 1979. I will miss him. God Bless you all, Bill & Chris Connell
