In Memoriam for our beloved husband, father and grandfather Konishi, Donald Yukio, Ph.D. Donald Y. Konishi passed away on March 2, 2008 following a valiant battle with gastric adenocarcinoma. He was born on July 16, 1931, in Los Angeles. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and completed a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Konishi had a long and successful career as a material scientist and aerospace engineer at North American Rockwell, and was a member of the American Society for Composites. He was proud of his involvement in the Apollo missions to the moon. Donald Konishi married Toshiko Honji on June 26, 1954, and he is survived by his five children, Mark, Scott, Lynn, Kyle and Gail, and his five grandchildren, Rina and Colin and Paul, Lukas and Anna. He loved to watch his grandchildren's baseball games, play Sudoku, golf, ping-pong, and bridge. A memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon, Monday March 10, 2008 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1003 West 163rd Street, Gardena, CA. The burial will be held following the funeral at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
