Del was born April 28, 1913 in San Bernardino, CA to Marcus and Chona Pina. She bore a total of five children, four of whom lived under one roof for a while in Hawthorne, CA. The oldest of her surviving children became a Seventh-day Adventist in about 1957 and this eventually led to Del's attending the Gardena S.D.A. Church. She was active in the church for about forty years and held assorted offices until her physical condition would not allow for it in the early 2000s. At the prime of her life Del was fond of volleyball and softball and was on several teams through her active years. In the mid to late 1960's, Del became a school bus driver for various entities, including the L.A. Unified School District and M&M Charter. Del was fortunate to have had five grandchildren, two from her daughter Joanne, and three from her son, Richard. Her daughter Betty and her youngest daughter, Elaine, were a great help to her as she waned in strength and ability to do everything on her own. She also has four great grand- children two of which are present today. For the last six weeks or so Del was a patient at the Royalwood Care Center where some of you visited her. She was true to her faith in God till the end.
