December 17, 1949 ~ February 22, 2017
David Randolph Griffin passed away on Feb. 22, 2017 at the age of 67 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Dave was the only child of Doyle and Juanita Griffin, who preceded him in death. Dave was a lifelong resident of Manhattan Beach and El Segundo. Dave attended both Mira Costa and Aviation High Schools, graduating in 1967. As a child, Dave was stricken with polio. Although he was not able to participate in organized or school sports, he did not let the disabilities from polio stop him from teaching baseball, basketball, and surfing to disadvantaged children throughout his life. For many years, Dave was the sole proprietor of Randolph Evan, specializing in the installation of window coverings and accessories. His workmanship was valued throughout the South Bay. When time permitted, Dave enjoyed traveling to other countries and continents. At each destination, Dave made many lifelong friends. His impeccable kindness, friendship, and loving personality were traits he shared. He was truly an endearing friend who will be missed by many. A celebration of life will be held for friends and family on March 12.
