David
David Bancroft Gray, Jr. 1931-2008 On July 13, 2008, David Gray lost his brave battle with cancer at his home in Manhattan Beach. Born April 7, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, Dave was a Marine and Korean War veteran, attended San Diego State University, and was a highly regarded sales and marketing executive in the food industry. Successful in business and in love, he is survived by his devoted wife Rosemary, his daughters Carolyn Duleba, (Thousand Oaks, Ca), Stacey Brunslot, (Lompoc, Ca.), Paula Ahlstone (Ventura, Ca.), and his stepchildren Joseph Flanagan, Colleen Donatucci, Tim Flanagan, and Erin Brown who all live locally in the Beach Cities. No one was more fun to be with than "Grandpa Jolly" who loved boogie boarding with his grandchildren, daily walks on the strand, and planning the next vacation. Dave was a man of action who embraced everyone and everything with great enthusiasm. He cherished his books, movies, and tennis. But most of all, he cherished his wife and sweetheart, Rosemary. They were rarely apart for more than a few hours. An uncommon man, Dave could make a lasting friendship on the first handshake. As his neighbor Brenda Haky would say, "Dave could turn away a solicitor from his front door and somehow they walked away with a smile on their face." For those wishing to contribute, the family requests that donations be made to Vitas Hospice Care; 990 W. 190th Street. Torrance, Ca. 90502. The love and attentive care the staff gave him allowed Dave to go to heaven peacefully and with dignity. Dave, Dad, and Grandpa Jolly, you will remain forever in out hearts and we will continue to repeat your favorite phrase, "Love and happiness!"
