Born in: Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Resided in: Torrance, California

Clare Floris Dargen, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away at her long time home in Torrance on April 27,2023.

Clare was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on January 6, 1933, the sixth of eight children. While in high school, she met Richard Dargen.  They married in 1954.  Dick was the love of her life and they were married until his passing in 2009.  She is survived by her daughters Gail and Lee Ann and her sons Bill and Patrick and their families.

Clare and Dick moved to Torrance in 1957 and enjoyed a wonderful life in the South Bay.  Clare was a faithful Catholic and was a member of St Lawrence Martyr since 1957. Clare was an accomplished pianist and took piano classes up into her 80’s through Torrance Adult School. She loved music, children, dogs, food, playing all sorts of games and travel. She loved the good things in life but had simple needs.  Clare found life interesting. Even when she could not get around very easily, she was intrigued by her surroundings and became an avid Googler.

Looking up everything from who was that actor on a game show, to what kind of bird was in her backyard. Clare was loving and faithful. She valued family deeply. She relished time with her ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Nothing was better than a hug from one of them. She was smart, loved learning and loved to laugh. She was funny and insightful, forgiving and optimistic.  Clare will be deeply missed by her family.

We are grateful that family from all over the US joined us for her 90th birthday in January. Her life was a blessing on her entire family. The love she showed to us will continue to be passed onto future generations.
