Cheryl Georgette Avakian was born an Angelino on February 11, 1926. After a wonderful full life she departed us on April 22, 2016. Cheryl was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Robert Avakian, DDS. She is survived by her brother Skip Holt (Camille), nephew Eric Holt, nieces Elizabeth Kosloff (children Kayla and Jason), Stephanie Lavinia (Todd) and a multitude of adoring cousins, particularly cousin Ginny Chapin who was her loving caregiver until the end, and is also survived by cousins of her late husband. Cheryl made an incredible number of friends, but best of all, she nourished them over her life time and theirs'. She was a wonderful "Auntie" to both her own relatives, to the neighborhood kids and her friends' children. Her considerable talent ranged from Chinese Brush Painting to being an expert calligrapher specializing in the most difficult Spencerian Script. Therefore, she was called upon by many for favors to write wedding invitations and place cards. She will be remembered for her annual Christmas cards featuring her devoted, faithful dogs and for her extensive collection of angels in many forms. Mostly, she will be remembered as an angel herself. Visitation will be at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. Torrance, 4-8 p.m., on Thursday April 28, 2016. Interment services at Forest Lawn, Glendale will be private.
